Welcome from the Headteacher
Thank you for taking the time to read our website. We hope that by doing so you will begin to get a flavour of the warm, exciting and vibrant place that Pendlebury Centre is.
The Pendlebury Centre is a specialist Alternative Provision, supporting secondary aged students who require additional help with their social, emotional and mental health needs. We work in close partnership with our young people, parents / carers and professionals to help them cope and go some way to overcoming their difficulties – and most importantly, achieve their unique potential. We follow a clear protocol for referrals through Stockport’s Secondary Panel for Inclusion – information about this can be found at various points on the website.
All of our students access their mainstream school throughout the week to promote inclusion.
Every day we are witness to great achievements from our students, facilitated by a diversity of innovative practice from our staff team. This practice has been recognised as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted on five consecutive occasions and we are naturally proud of this – however, the greater prize is seeing our young people grow into caring, responsible and active members of society. We cannot put everything we want to share with you in this website but hopefully we can provide an insight.
As part of our contribution to the promotion of emotional and mental wellbeing for all students in Stockport, we offer a wide range of support and training through our accredited mental health courses. Bespoke school-to-school support arrangements can be discussed and facilitated. We are a National Support School and we support other AP’s and PRUs to improve their system leadership and general provision.
We are actively involved in a range of initiatives which support the wider educational community and of course the students who attend Pendlebury. This includes Initial teacher training with our local Universities, we are a member of ARC, promoting positive attachment in our schools and have been recognised by Excellence in Assessment for our assessment in SEMH.
