Cedars – Curriculum
Liaison with the student’s mainstream/special school will take place to ensure they access an appropriate and relevant curriculum. A change in the staffing structure and a more conscious use of our therapeutic provisions has been pursued and a thematic curriculum has been implemented, providing access to the following core subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Science
- ICT
- PSHE
- Art
- Thematic
- Emotional Wellbeing
- Food technology
The thematic curriculum will be taught to National Curriculum guidelines. If appropriate all students will have the opportunity to follow examination courses to GCSE and Entry Level including Functional skills. All subjects will be taught in small groups with learning activities devised to cater for differences in ability.
i used to be so scared about being ‘out’ as a teacher, and expressing myself honestly in schools. i’ve just finished a parents evening where so many parents thanked me for that, and for showing their children that they can be confident in being themselves. i’m feeling very proud.
Another great day of exams at the Pendlebury Centre. Year 11 have now completed all their functional skills exams in Maths and English - well done 👏🏻
